Dear Members and Friends of DECC!

Happy 103 years anniversary Estonia!

A little less than a year ago we first started to hear about Corona or Covid19 and were meet with the first lock-down We didn’t know yet how big impact this pandemic would have on our life and business.

Early in 2021, me and my entire family was tested positive and had to stay in isolation for 10 days - after 14 days in isolation after a close-contact. It was not easy, but with the modern society it can be done. Estonian e-services are at a high level and made it easy to get everyday needs delivered right to your door without any contact.

Estonia is currently in a bad situation, and we all hope that the next level of restrictions will have the desired effect and we can return to some level of normality in the beginning of summer.

However, many businesses will continue to suffer on these restrictions and may not make it through 2021. We all can do something in order to help the local businesses - buy local produced goods or spend vacation in Estonia supporting the local hotels and restaurants.

We hope you have enjoyed the webinars DECC provided in February. There are more on the way! A big thanks to our good member NJORD for hosting an interesting, useful and highly relevant webinar about employment contracts. Also the first session of the LinkedIn training that we co-organized together with the Swedish chamber, was very well-received.

The focus from the Danish Government is on green energy and a sustainable business, and DECC will be following up on this in the future in cooperation with our good partners, including the Danish Embassy.

For now, we have two interesting things coming up: FICE annual member survey and DECC Annual General Meeting (AGM). I really encourage all our members to complete the survey. It will give FICE a solid background to advice the newly appointed government. Regarding the AGM, more information will soon be sent out to our members. Should you wish to run for the DECC council, please let us know. We would be happy to welcome new active people in our council.

Stay safe and negative, I look forward to see you all at the AGM - live or virtually!

Best regards

Peter Thomsen
Chairman of the Council
